Choosing the right local island for your budget and travel style
We give you a clear selection of islands to choose from depending on what you're after: amazing snorkeling, dream beaches, local vibe, easy access, activities or a tight budget.
Our hotel, activity and excursion recommendations
We tested several places to stay on the local islands and compared dozens of options to pick out the best value for money on our favorite islands. Sandbanks, dolphin outings, snorkeling with sharks and manta rays, diving, secret beaches…
Practical tips
Avoid the classic mistakes: choosing the wrong island for the season, overpaying, getting the dress codes and local customs wrong, managing cash, insurance, the weather…
Instead you'll have all the right info: public ferry schedules, speedboat transfers, the budget to plan for and tips to avoid nasty surprises.
Overall budget and detailed prices
We tell you exactly how much to plan for depending on the length of your stay: accommodation, transport, activities, restaurants… Everything is broken down item by item so you can easily estimate your budget.

Questions?
When to go?
The dry season runs from December to March, with the best weather.
We went twice during the rainy season (May to October): prices were much lower (sometimes two to three times cheaper for hotels), and we still had plenty of sunny days.
💡 Fun fact: the rainy season is also when manta rays gather at Hanifaru Bay (Baa Atoll).
What budget?
The Maldives can be affordable if you travel via local islands:
- Hotels start from €45 per night in the rainy season (for 2 people). In the dry season, prices easily double or triple.
- Excursions cost at least $50 per person.
- Diving starts at $80 per dive.
- Meals average around $8 per dish.
- Speedboats from Malé vary depending on distance (around $50 per person).
- Public ferries between islands in the same atoll are very cheap (~$2).
Budget for 7 days (Dhigurah + Fulidhoo) for 2 people:
- Hotels (€100/night average): €600
- Transport: €366
- Meals: €350
- Excursions (2): €220
Total for 2 people: ~€1,536
What are the refund conditions?
We truly want every traveler to be happy with their guide.
But because this is a PDF file that cannot be “returned” or “deleted” after download, we cannot issue a refund without a valid reason. Unfortunately, we’ve seen too many abuses and we need to protect our work and our content 🙏
This is why refunds are only possible in justified situations, clearly defined below.
1. Refund request period
You can request a refund within 7 days after your purchase.
2. Eligibility conditions
A refund is possible if you explain what is missing or causing issues when planning your trip, so we can improve the guide.
What we require:
- A concrete reason with clear feedback about the specific information you’re missing.
What we do NOT refund:
- Requests based on missing information about a destination or step that was never included on the sales page.
(For example: you expected information about Malapascua in the Philippines even though this step does not appear on the map of the sales page.) - Requests without justification.
- Requests based on simply changing your mind.
- Requests submitted after downloading multiple guides in a row and asking a refund for all of them (clear abuse).
- Purchases made using major promotional discounts (over 40 percent).
What are the payment methods?
You can pay safely by bank card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Google Pay, Apple Pay and iDEAL. All payments are secure and protected
Have you tested the recommended locations?
We only recommend places we REALLY loved (collaboration or not!) and we also also recommend places based on all our research (best locations, value for money, ratings on google/booking) so you really don't have to do anything (well yes, just choose according to your available budget!).
What is the advantage of a guide compared to a blog where I find the information for free?
Personally, I have always had to read dozens of different blogs to organize an entire trip. Most bloggers only trace what they did and you need to do more research for the rest. Our guides are designed to save you this research time, and have everything in one place, from preparing (visa, business to bring, cash, sim card...) to visualizing your complete itinerary.
In addition, if you follow me on Instagram you know that we are always looking for little-known paradisiacal places, to find ourselves alone. And it's these gems that I keep very dear for my guides, I no longer share precise locations publicly! Not to mention the exclusive discounts that I negotiate and that you won't find anywhere else.
How do I get updates?
As soon as a guide is purchased, you get all of its updates for free! They will be sent to you by email to the address provided during your purchase.
💡 tip : Keep this email with the download link carefully so you can access the latest version at any time.
What format will I get after the purchase?
The e-books are interactive pdf files (with clickable links) that you can save and view from your phone. It is a format adapted for long mobile devices that can be scrolled like a site. Please don't print it ♻️
Is the e-book right for me if I don't plan to spend as much time in the country as you do?
Yes, we offer itineraries for all durations, especially for those who only have one or two weeks of vacation.
